The historic site is partnering with the New York Historical Society to offer the free courses to green card holders and prepare them for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalization exam.
The historic center says the Citizenship Project is a major initiative to help the thousands of immigrants in Indiana who are eligible for U.S. citizenship each year. The six-week long course focuses on civics and history.
The courses are led by expert museum educators at the Presidential Site.
The center says thanks to an anonymous gift, there is no charge for participation, but registration is capped at 20 participants.
The organization says since the test is administered in English, the classes are also in English.
