Harrison College to Launch ‘Private Cloud’

A partnership between Harrison College and Indianapolis-based Indiana Fiber Network LLC aims to enhance the college’s technology infrastructure. IFN will enable a private cloud strategy for the college, which will allow students to interact with faculty, staff and other students.
Harrison College and IFN have previously partnered on supporting high-speed fiber broadband activity at Harrison’s campuses throughout the state. IFN says the move to a private cloud strategy will provide more reliable connectivity, ensuring access to all student resources on or off campus.
"We are thrilled whenever technology plays a pivotal role in facilitating the Harrison College mission. The advantage of having our core data center in an IFN facility rather than in one of our buildings, is a huge advantage," said Joe Meadors, Harrison College senior vice president of information services and facilities. "It allowed Harrison to maintain much of its existing structure – the parts that worked well. The old data centers still exist, but only as spokes. The hub is IFN."
Cory Childs with IFN says using a private cloud allows Harrison to make the most of the technology available.
