A new brewery in Hammond will celebrate its grand opening Saturday. Byway Brewing Co. is the result of a $2.5 million investment and Chief Executive Officer Dave Toth says there is room to grow.
The 10,000 square-foot brewery houses a production facility as well as a taproom for tasting along with a chef-driven menu. Toth says when they were looking for the property on which to build the brewery, they did not want to limit their production capabilities. Because of that, the brewery has an additional 10,000 square feet of land into which it can expand.
"We don’t have any long-term, specific goal on production other than we’re shooting for 10,000 barrels over the course of the next three to five years," says Toth. "I know that’s kind of ambitious but if we can prudently grow more than that in the years to follow, one of the great things about our Hammond location is that we’ll be able to reach almost any amount of production without having move from that location."
Toth says he is happy to be "over the construction hump" and is excited to welcome customers. Byway Brewing will open at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
