Hamilton County Tourism Releases Year in Review

Hamilton County Tourism Inc. has released its 2020 Year in Review. The report indicates major setbacks for the hospitality industry, but also highlights record setting activity at Grand Park Sports Campus.
President Brenda Myers opening letter states, “There is no doubt the hospitality industry has been most impacted by this crisis.”
Myers estimates that as much as 50% of the travel industry is now unemployed, and recovery could take until 2024.
“Watching our county’s non-profit partners organize as the pandemic unfolded to support food distribution, senior assistance, housing support and delivery of healthcare services was inspiring,” said Myers. “But watching our hard-working hospitality industry partners struggle during lockdown, work to adapt their delivery of services, readapt as the state gradually reopened and totally reinvent their operations has moved us beyond words.”
Other highlights include the youth sports market’s resiliency and its boost for the county’s lodging and food and beverage tax revenue. July and August 2020 were the biggest months on record at Grand Park as event planners relocated tournaments there at reduced capacity.
