Hamilton County Tourism has named Laura Kelner director of sales. She previously served in a similar role at Visit Indy. In her new position, Kelner will oversee the Sales and Sports Authority departments while leading efforts to increase economic impact, demand for hotel rooms and meeting venues in Hamilton County. During her 14 years at Visit Indy, she secured key accounts with the NCAA and brought the Fire Department Instructors Conference International to Indianapolis. Kelner also helped to grow the religious market segment and participated with Meeting Planners International and the American Society of Association Executives. She served on local organizing committees for several NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships and was a volunteer on the Indy 500 Festival Committee. Following Visit Indy, she co-founded a nonprofit called Indiana Women in Need Foundation, an organization that assists women going through breast cancer treatment by assisting them with daily needs such as child care, groceries, gas and housekeeping. Most recently, she was a client care coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care.
