The organizations have created a hospitality job board that features positions at restaurants and hotels.
“The pandemic and its ripple effects seriously impacted this critical local industry,” said Hamilton County Tourism President Brenda Myers.
Pre-pandemic tourism and travel supported nearly 10,000 direct local jobs in the county. The organizations say the need for candidates to consider careers in the attractions, event, food service and lodging industries is greater than ever as the hospitality industry emerges from the pandemic.
“The tourism and hospitality industry career pathway is very vertical,” said Hamilton County Economic Development Corporation Vice President of Workforce Strategy Michael Thibideau. “A front desk clerk at a hotel can move into general management or sales fairly quickly with or without a college degree. These jobs also provide valuable soft skills training that can be used throughout an individual’s career.”
