Hamilton County Hosting Archery Championships

Grand Park in Westfield is hosting more than 1,000 archers for the U.S. National Target Championships. The event, which begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday, will feature several Olympians and world champions at the Hamilton County facility.

The event will also include the Junior Olympic Archery Development, or JOAD, National Target Championships, which features some of the best youth archers in the country. USA Archery says there will also be times scheduled during the weekdays for the "Try-Me" field event, during which spectators will be able to shoot a bow and arrow, win prizes and meet the athletes.

The competitions will begin with qualifications where archers will shoot 144 arrows for score. The archers will then be ranked and take part in head-to-head elimination matches. On Saturday, the senior divisions will compete in the medal matches as part of the U.S. Open Finals.

"USA Archery is looking forward to bringing our Outdoor Nationals to Westfield, Indiana," USA Archery CEO Denise Parker said in a news release. "The community support has been wonderful and we are thrilled to put on a great event for our athletes at Grand Park."

The tournament will include three-time Olympic medalist Brady Ellison as well as Olympians Khatuna Lorig and Mackenzie Brown. World champions Steve Anderson, Reo Wilde and Jame Van Natta will also take part in the event.
