Groundbreaking Set For Evansville Sports Hall of Fame

The Greater Evansville Sports Hall of Fame will Thursday break ground on its Hall of Fame Museum. The facility is being built on a 1.6-acre site and will include sections for individual sports and a 150-person banquet hall.
The organization first announced plans for the facility in August 2017. At that time, the GESOF launched a $2.5 million capital campaign to fund the 9,600-square-foot museum. A fundraiser auction for the project will take place September 20 at the Holiday Inn Evansville Airport.
The GESOF says its goal with the facility is to "honor local sports heroes who have made an impact in our community including players, coaches and ambassadors of the games of baseball, football, basketball, and golf."
