Ground Broken on Military Hall of Fame
Officials with the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame have broken ground on a permanent building in Lawrence. The building, which sits on the lawn of the American Legion Department of Indiana Headquarters, will pay tribute to members of all five branches of the U.S. military.
The organization says it has begun raising funds for the construction of the building. The goal is to begin construction in the spring of 2017.
"I am proud that so many Hoosiers are working to honor our state’s veterans through the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame," said Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN). "It is only fitting that we recognize the importance of the military’s contributions to our freedom. And while we can never fully repay our debt for their service, this institution is an opportunity to express our respect and admiration."
The Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame will induct its third class on November 4. The list of inductees has not yet been announced.
