The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis will Wednesday break ground on the $10 million OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA facility on the city’s northwest side. The OrthoIndy Foundation landed the naming rights for the facility after making a $3 million donation toward construction in March 2016.
The new YMCA will replace the existing Pike YMCA when construction is complete in 2018. The facility is partnering with the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, which will use 5,000 square feet of space to provide medical services for veterans, including physical and occupational therapy, pain management and counseling.
The facility will also feature an indoor pool, gymnasium, elevated indoor track, wellness center and demonstration kitchen, among other amenities. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will be on hand for the ground breaking ceremony, which is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
