Grocer Receives Sagamore of The Wabash

A fourth-generation owner of a Wabash Valley grocery business has received one of the highest honors bestowed by the governor. Baesler’s Market President Bob Baesler was presented with a Sagamore of The Wabash award by Governor Mike Pence Thursday in one of his three family-run stores.
Others attending the surprise ceremony include State Senator Jon Ford, Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce President David Haynes and Indiana State University Government Relations Director Greg Goode.
Baesler, an Indiana State University graduate, is currently toward the end of his second, four-year term on his alma mater’s board of trustees. He also serves on the boards for several organizations including Wabash Valley Crime Stoppers, Terre Haute Savings Bank, Terre Haute Chamber and the Indiana Retail Grocers.
Baesler’s Market was established in 1894 and currently employs hundreds at its locations in Terre Haute, Sullivan and Linton.
Our partners at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute profiled Baesler in 2014 as part of its Jefferson Awards for community service.
