The Griffith Town Council has voted down an agreement to fund a portion of the proposed South Shore rail extension. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report some council members say Representative Peter Visclosky's (D-1) plan requested a different annual contribution than what was previously approved. Last month, the town of Cedar Lake also rejected a funding plan. Under the congressman's proposal, towns along the line would have to pay five percent annually of its part of the County Economic Development Income Tax.

Council OKed a flat $20,000 annually.

Council Vice President Glen Gaby says if an amended interlocal agreement reflecting the council vote is presented, they would sign it.
