A more than 130 year-old Hoosier family-owned business has announced leadership changes. Indianapolis-based Gregory & Appel Insurance has named Dan Appel chairman and chief executive officer and David Riley chief financial officer and chief operating officer. The company has also created separate leadership positions for two business units.
Andrew Appel will be president of property and casualty. Sheri Alexander is now president of employee benefits.
The company says the roles and titles of Dan Appel and Riley have been reworked to better reflect its current structure.
Dan Appel, who has been with the company for 30 years, says "at the forefront of this extraordinary growth for Gregory & Appel is our incredibly talented team of professionals, with Sheri and Andrew leading the way. These new leadership roles allow us to continue to evolve and reinforce our commitment to our clients and employees."
Riley previously served as executive vice president. Andrew Appel is the vice president and manager of commercial sales and represents the fifth generation of family in a leadership role. Alexander, a former senior vice president, is credited with helping boost revenue in the employee benefits division, as the staff has grown from eight to 40.
Gregory & Appel was founded in 1884 and touts itself as one of the state’s oldest and largest independent agencies, serving clients throughout the Midwest.
