Gregg Named Partner at Ice Miller
Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis has added a former Democratic candidate for governor to its ranks. John Gregg has joined the firm as a partner, along with former Marion County Deputy Prosecutor Joe Champion.
The firm says Gregg’s experience in law, business and government "allows him to serve a variety of clients including municipalities, universities, small businesses, the agriculture community and corporations." In his new role, Gregg will focus on economic development, corporate strategic planning, small business development, and energy and agriculture initiatives throughout Indiana.
"John brings more than 30 years of legal, administrative and legislative experience to the Firm," said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. "His understanding of the state of Indiana and its economic opportunities will be a valuable asset to our team."
In addition to serving as deputy prosecutor, Champion has also previously served as special counsel for gaming in the Indiana House of Representatives. Ice Miller says, in his practice, Champion will continue to focus on gaming and regulatory affairs, economic development, P-3, public affairs, private equity and corporate strategy.
The firm has also added Sebastian Smelko as of counsel, focusing on public affairs, municipal finance, gaming, utilities, and real estate. Smelko has previously served as associate general counsel and policy director for former Governor Mitch Daniels and general counsel for the Ports of Indiana.
