The mayor of Greenfield has died after a battle with liver cancer. The Greenfield Daily Reporter says Richard Pasco was diagnosed with a recurrence of the disease last week and decided not to pursue treatment. He initially suffered from the cancer more than a decade ago. The announcement of Pasco's death was made during Tuesday's Greenfield Board of Works meeting.

Pasco had a lengthy tenure in municipal politics. He spent 20 years as a member of the city council.

He also spent a few years as the Kiwanis International Indiana District governor.

Pasco had been mayor since 2012. His term was to expire in 2016.
