Greene County School Opens Telehealth Clinic

The Indiana Rural School Clinic Network has expanded its rural telehealth program to the Greene County town of Lyons. The new high-tech telehealth clinic opened April 15 to the students of White River Valley Middle School.

My Virtual Clinic, a service of Greene County General Hospital, will provide extended medical services through secure diagnostic equipment located in the new telehealth clinic, helping to provide quality medical care to the 742-person rural town.

“The expansion of this digital capacity here in Greene County brings several benefits to our students and parents,” said Dr. Bob Hacker, superintendent of the White River Valley School District, in a news release. “In concert with our school nurse, students can be seen by qualified medical professionals without having to leave the school facility during the day – that eases potential burdens that formally would have been put on parents to come retrieve their child during typical working hours.”

The new school-based telehealth clinic is funded through a Health Resources and Services Administration grant made available to the Indiana Rural Health Association.
