‘Great Pioneer’ Being Remembered

Sue Shadley was a founding partner of Indianapolis-based Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP. She helped establish the firm more than 25 years ago, which has grown to include more than 40 lawyers.
Shadley was the first general counsel of the Indiana Department of Environmental Law prior to starting PSRB with George Plews and George Pendygraft in 1988. Plews says Shadley was "a great pioneer, a great lawyer, and even more importantly, a great human being. It was just a delight and a privilege to work with her."
The firm began with four lawyers and has since grown to include more than 40.
She previously held positions with the Indianapolis Air Pollution Control Board and the Department of Natural Resources, the Indiana Recycling and Energy Development Board, Indiana’s Environmental Crimes Task Force and Purdue University’s Agronomy Advisory Council.
The firm says Shadley became an advocate for ALS, a disease she was diagnosed with in 2014, working with the ALS Association of Indiana to raise funds for the Nutrition Supplement, Respite and Loan Equipment Closet Programs.
