Grants to Boost Faith-Based Pre-K

Subscribe NowEarly Learning Indiana has awarded more than $125,000 to faith-based early education ministries throughout the state. The funding will go toward physical, operational and program improvements to boost safety and learning standards and gain national accreditations.
The organization says the money will help the ministries advance along "Paths to Quality," the state’s early child care quality rating and improvement system.
The recipients are:
• Cline Avenue Fellowship Childcare, Highland, has been granted $36,633 to install a fire alarm system and hand washing sinks in four classrooms, purchase classroom materials and to cover costs associated with hiring staff.
• Holy Family School, South Bend, has been awarded $13,000 to update lighting, replace ceiling tiles and paint interior walls as well as purchase new classroom materials and to pay for ongoing professional development expenses.
• Immanuel Lutheran Preschool, Valparaiso, has been granted $16,325 to support facility improvements, purchase new classroom materials as well as to cover costs associated with hiring additional staff.
• Round Barn Daycare, Greencastle, has been awarded $21,400 to install playground fencing and new windows, purchase new classroom materials and to cover costs associated with hiring and training new employees.
• Stepping Up Preschool, Crown Point, has been awarded $7,640 for facility improvements, classroom materials as well as for costs associated with hiring new staff and ongoing professional development.
• St. Adalbert Catholic School, South Bend, has been granted $5,850 to purchase new classroom materials and support ongoing professional development for its staff.
• St. Joseph Catholic School Early Learning Ministry, Shelbyville, has been granted $25,000 that will be used to improve the facility, allowing the program to open a new classroom and serve at least 10 new children.
