The grant will be used to expand and enhance the state’s training for school nutrition professionals.
The IDOE says the goal of the training is to increase student consumption of fruits and vegetables and improving student health. The funding will also be used to develop curriculum and resources for family and consumer sciences teachers in middle and high schools.
"As an educator, I know that nutrition is essential to learning," said Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz. "Indiana’s school nutrition professionals provide nutritious and healthy meals to hundreds of thousands of students each day. This grant will allow the Department to expand our training and support for those hardworking professionals who are in our schools serving students every day."
