INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Butler University's part-time MBA program ranks 72nd in U.S. News and World Report's Best Graduate Schools, 2015 Edition. This is the third consecutive year Butler has been on the list of the nation’s top 125 part-time MBA programs.
Rankings are based on five factors: average peer assessment score; average GMAT score of student's entering in fall 2013; average undergraduate GPA; work experience; and the percentage of the school's fall 2013 part-time enrollment.
The average peer assessment score – which accounts for 50 percent of a school's overall score – is calculated from a fall 2011 survey that asks business school deans and MBA program directors at each of the nation’s 310 part-time MBA programs to rate the programs on a 5-point scale.
College of Business Dean Chuck Williams said the ongoing national recognition can be credited to graduate faculty's efforts to connect theory with actual business practice. “Working with area executives, our MBA faculty incorporate relevant, real business experiences into courses – activities such as our one-day immersion Gateway Experience and our FirstPerson Board Fellows program, which places our graduate students on the boards of local non-profit organizations.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. News & World Report, publisher of the Best Colleges rankings, today released highlights of the 2015 Best Graduate Schools online at www.usnews.com/grad. The 2015 edition includes rankings for five of the largest professional graduate school disciplines – business, law, education, engineering and medicine – as well as specialty rankings within each discipline.
This year, the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania climbed from third place to tie with Harvard University and Stanford University as the best full-time MBA programs in the country. Among part-time MBA programs, the Haas School of Business at University of California – Berkeley came in at No. 1.
In the law school rankings, Yale University and Harvard once again claimed the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. For the first time since the 2010 edition of Best Graduate Schools, Duke University’s School of Law joined the top 10 schools, sharing the No. 10 spot with University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. In a repeat from last year, Harvard is the No. 1 medical school for research, with Stanford following at No. 2.
The Best Graduate Schools rankings also offer new data on programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the so-called STEM fields, including peer assessment-only rankings of a variety of engineering specialties and Ph.D. programs in biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics, physics and statistics.
“A graduate degree is a major investment of both time and money,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News & World Report. “Our Best Graduate Schools rankings are designed to help prospective students research and identify the right programs to pursue in their field of interest.”
Graduate schools in the five main disciplines ranked annually are evaluated on standardized test scores of newly enrolled students, expert opinions on program quality, acceptance rates and many other criteria. Because each graduate program is different, the rankings methodology varies across disciplines.
