Goodnight Names Deputy Mayor

Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight has selected David Tharp to serve as the city’s deputy mayor. Tharp, who is currently a development specialist and manager for the city, will replace Randy McKay, who announced his retirement earlier this month.
Tharp will take over as deputy Mayor June 4. McKay, who was the city’s first deputy mayor, will remain in his position as president of the Board of Public Works and Safety.
"Randy has been a tremendous asset for the City," said Goodnight. "It is vital to find someone who has a passion for local government and a drive to succeed like Randy has as Deputy Mayor. David is the right person who will step in and work hard to advance our mission."
Tharp said he and McKay have worked together for years.
"I can’t imagine any way I could have better prepared for this than to watch him in action," said Tharp. "He really has set the standard for the Deputy Mayor’s position. I appreciate the faith that the Mayor has in me and the support I’ve received and will receive from Randy as we make this transition. I share the Mayor’s passion for making Kokomo a great place to work, live and raise a family. Helping advance that goal will always be my focus."
