Indianapolis-based Goelzer Investment Management has hired Chris Cotterill as chief operating officer. Cotterill joins the investment firm after serving as executive vice president and COO of the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

Cotterill succeeds Brett McKamey, who will continue with the firm as president and an advisor to institutional and private clients.

“At Goelzer, intellectual capital has always been one of our strengths, and with Chris Cotterill aboard, we’re enhancing our management capabilities so that our clients continue to benefit from working with the best and brightest investment team in Indiana,” said Gregory Goelzer, chief executive officer of the firm.

Cotterill also served as general counsel for the IEDC. Prior to joining the organization, Cotterill served as chief of staff to former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and corporation counsel for the city of Indianapolis and Marion County.
