(NYSE: GM) says it is transitioning more than 650 hourly employees from temporary to regular, full-time employment. The employees are located at nine manufacturing plants and other sites in four states, including about 70 workers at the GM truck plant in Fort Wayne.
The transitions will take place this month. The automaker says in addition to receiving full-time status, the affected employees will see medical plan cost-share improvements, as well as the addition of dental and vision coverage, company 401(k) contributions, profit sharing and life insurance coverage.
“We are proud to welcome these team members as regular, full-time employees,” Phil Kienle, vice president of North America manufacturing and labor relations for GM, said in a news release. “Our people are the heart and soul of everything we do and through their hard work and dedication to building quality products, they are taking the next step in their journey with GM.”
Employees at GM locations in Michigan, Texas and Missouri are also part of the move.
