Subscribe NowIndiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz has named Jitka Nelson Indiana’s 2017 Teacher of the Year. Nelson is an English Language Arts, Developmental Reading and English Learner teacher at Logansport Community High School. She has been a teacher for more than 25 years and has taught at Logansport Community High School since 2006. Nelson will represent Indiana in the National Teacher of the Year competition. She was previously named the winner of the 2016 Logansport District Teacher of the Year Award. During her career, Nelson has served as an instructional assistant and classroom teacher in the Czech Republic and Canada as well as the United States.
