Gleaners Names CEO

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana has named John Elliott its next chief executive officer. Elliott, who has served as public affairs manager for The Kroger Co.’s (NYSE: KR) Central Division, succeeds Cindy Hubert, who will retire in September.
The organization says, in addition to his work at Kroger, Elliott "has been a visible champion for the hunger relief system and food insecurity issues within central Indiana." He has served on several nonprofit boards including Gleaners and Second Helpings. He will take the helm at Gleaners on September 6. Gleaners Board Chair Jamie Browning says the organization is "thrilled to have John’s leadership and broad experience" in the position.
Hubert has led Gleaners for six years. The organization says her accomplishments include the expansion of the Gleaners Community Cupboard Food Pantry, which provides access to nutritious food for 5,000 families each month. The organization says she was also the "driving force" behind the creation of Indy Hunger Network and a joint hunger relief program with the Department of Public Safety in high-crime areas in Indianapolis.
