Georgia Company Closing Plainfield Plant

A Georgia-based company plans to close its plant in Plainfield later this year. In a notice to the state, Southwire Co. LLC says the closure is expected to affect 50 employees.
Southwire says it will begin closing its customer service center on South Perry Road around March 31. The company expects the first round of layoffs will occur between March 31 and April 16, with all employees expected to be let go by June.
The company says employees have been notified about the closure. They have also been told that the layoffs are permanent. The majority of the employees being let go are warehouse specialists.
Southwire manufactures wire and cable used for distribution and transmission of electricity.
