WHAT: In January of 2014, the White House announced the City of Gary as a recipient for the Strong Cities, Strong Communities designation.

The City of Gary will host a kick-off for this national effort. As a part of this press event, Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will be joined by HUD Region 5 Regional Administrator Antonio Riley, EPA Region 5 Regional Administrator Susan Hedman and Bill Hanna, President of the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority. Information will be shared about the progress of the Sheraton Hotel demolition.
