The Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority has appointed former Indianapolis International Airport Chief Executive Officer John Clark to head up the $166 expansion project. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report JClark Aviation, Clark's consulting firm, already has contracts with the airport that involve privatization and business planning. Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson announced last week the expansion will be stalled nine months or more due to unforeseen environmental cleanup issues.

The paper reports the board did not vote to change Clark's rate of pay, but a board member did say he should eventually be compensated for the additional duties.

During a meeting Monday, trustees also took public input on the plan to advance the borrowing of $35 million. That vote could come by the end of the month and allow the authority access to up to $65 million as needed.
