The St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission has approved a total of $120,000 in contracts for consultants related to a proposed industrial park near New Carlisle. The South Bend Tribune reports the consultants will be tasked with coordinating information about the project and providing public relations work.
Elkhart-based strategic growth firm Insight Strategic Concepts received a $55,000 contract. Andy Kostielny, president of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners, said the firm will gather public input and incorporate it into the long-term plan for the park, according to the publication.
Mishawaka-based public relations firm Big Idea Co. received a $66,000 contract for traditional public relations work. The Tribune reports the contract could also include work for other economic development projects.
The IEC is a 7,200-acre project area and current development plans are centered on a 2,900-acre Core Development Area, the majority of which is undeveloped. Last month, a 114-acre portion of the property was rezoned for industrial use and Bill Schalliol, director of economic development for the county, said at least one project could break ground this year.
