Lafayette-based French Knot, a winter accessories company that works with artisans in Nepal, has named Clara Paris design assistant. She will assist designer Lindsay Mason with knit patterns, trend research, evaluating samples and more.

Paris graduated from Purdue University with a degree in apparel design and technology. While at Purdue, she studied abroad at the Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute where she learned more about the textile design. She also worked as an intern at Abercrombie and Fitch where she gained experience creating patterns with manufacturers.

French Knot employs more than 1,000 women artisans in Nepal to hand-knit and hand-embroider Mason’s hand-drawn designs into winter accessories. This collaboration is guided by fair-trade principles and provides a living wage to women in a developing country. Exquisite floral embellishments, colorful patterns, and high-quality natural wools are what sets French Knot knitwear apart.

Although French Knot doesn’t have a storefront, they are launching a new website soon.
