Freeman will serve the remainder of former commissioner Carolene Mays-Medley’s term, which expires in December of 2017.
Freeman previously served as a senior staff attorney with the Indiana Legislative Services Agency. She takes over for Mays-Medley, who vacated the position after being appointed executive director of the White River State Park Development Commission by Pence.
"Sarah Freeman has dedicated her life to public service and knows firsthand the laws that govern the utilities in our state," said Pence. "I’m confident her background and subject-matter expertise will serve Sarah well as she continues her work for the people of Indiana as Commissioner of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission."
