Franklin College extends contract for President Kerry Prather

Franklin College is extending the contract of President Kerry Prather through 2028.
The college’s board of trustees voted recently on the extension that gives Prather another two years at the helm of the school he’s been at for four decades.
Prather has been Franklin’s president since 2020, and the board of trustees feels his leadership is moving the school in the right direction.
“The Franklin College community continues to thrive under President Prather’s bold and visionary leadership,” Board Chair Peter Cangany Jr. said in a press release. “His forward-thinking approach is helping the college navigate today’s rapidly evolving higher education landscape. Franklin College is experiencing a remarkable time in its history, and we are excited to continue the progress.”
The board marked Prather’s accomplishments to date as establishing the Center for Tech Innovation and the Johnson Memorial Health Athletic Annex. Academically, the board points to the addition of a digital fluency capstone and said Prather has overseen “record-setting” enrollment and fundraising success.
“I’m honored by the Board’s trust and energized by the substantial progress we’ve made over the past five years. I look forward to building on that momentum and exploring new opportunities that will further ensure the college’s future prosperity,” said Prather in the release.
Prather has been at Franklin College as an advisor to four past presidents before becoming president himself. His previous contract ran through the end of 2026.
In the past year, Franklin College has received donations to help preserve the iconic Richardson Chapel as well as the Elwood Fitness Center.
