Frankfort’s effort to provide green space and recreational areas for community members is closer to reality after donations from local banks. The Farmers Bank and Encompass Credit Union both recently announced large donations for the park.
The Farmers Bank announced a $150,000 donation, and Encompass Credit Union gave a $100,000 gift for construction of the downtown park. “The Farmers Bank believes that giving back is an essential part of being a good corporate neighbor. Building relationships and supporting our neighborhoods with funds, time, and talent are a big part of our heritage that dates back to 1876 and makes us who we are today” said Farmers Chairman, Kent Ryan. “We’re excited about all the possibilities Prairie Creek Park will bring to the Clinton County community.” Encompass Chief Operating Officer Killey Shuck says “Improving quality of life and quality of place for the residents we serve has been a longstanding goal of our leadership team. Prairie Creek Park, with its triple benefit of beautiful green space, family-friendly recreation and performing arts venue, addresses this goal directly."
The park will be located on East Washington Street across the street from Nickel Plate Flats. The park will provide performing arts space, a splash pad, vendor areas, dog park, playground equipment, and other recreational opportunities.
