A new agreement links Franciscan Health with the department of neurology surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The agreement calls for a full-time surgeon, Kevin Jackson, to be employed by Franciscan Health Crown Point, and also includes Telestroke services at four Franciscan Health health care facilities in northwest Indiana.

Franciscan Health President and Chief Executive Officer Daniel McCormick says its an exciting collaboration.  "It brings university level clinical expertise to our region that will enable us to extend the amount of time we have to treat stroke patients from the start of symptoms, as well as supporting our emergency room physicians via stroke trained neurologists from Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Adding the surgical expertise of Dr. Jackson expands the scope of neurosurgical services available in Crown Point even further. We are proud to continue to provide the most current in evidenced-based medicine in our caring environment to improve the patient experience to all whom we are privileged to serve," McCormick said.

Telestroke services will be established at Franciscan Health Crown Point, along with their facilities in Dyer, Hammond and Munster. The service uses videoconferencing to link stroke patients with vascular neurologists at Northwestern Memorial to allow for examinations, immediate scan results and treatment recommendations.
