Four Hoosier foodies have landed a spot as semifinalists for the 2020 Restaurant and Chef Awards from the James Beard Foundation in New York. Martha Hoover of Patachou Inc. and Abbi Merriss of Bluebeard are each receiving recognition alongside restaurants Beholder and Love Handle, which have been honored in their respective categories.

The 2020 James Beard Awards will mark the 30th anniversary of the honor for chefs, restaurants, journalists, authors, and the food and beverage industry.

The categories include top restaurants and chefs from the nation, as well as on a regional scale.

The semi-finalists representing Indiana include:

  • Martha Hoover – Outstanding Restaurateur
  • Beholder – Outstanding Wine Program
  • Abbi Merriss, Bluebeard – Best Chef: Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, OH)
  • Love Handle – Outstanding Hospitality

The final Restaurant and Chef Award nominees will be announced on March 25. 

The 2020 James Beard Awards Gala will follow May 4, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
