Overall, the 2015 Forbes 400 is little changed from last year. Bloomington-based Cook Medical Chief Executive Officer Carl Cook is ranked the most wealthy Hoosier.
The cutoff to make this year’s list has increased by $150 million, compared to 2014 and now stands at $1.7 billion. In fact, according to Forbes researchers, 145 billionaires in the country didn’t make the cut.
Cook, who leads the medical device company started by his parents, placed 82nd on the list with an estimated net worth of $5.8 billion. Last year, he was 83rd.
Second in the state is Chairman Emeritus of the Board Herb Simon of Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG) in Indianapolis. His $2.8 billion earns him the 234th spot on this year’s list, up 34 spots.
Merrillville-based White Lodging Services Corp. founder Dean White is 268th overall at $2.5 billion. Rounding out the list of Indiana’s top billionaires is Indianapolis Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay with $2.3 billion, good for 293rd on the 2015 U.S. list.
