South Bend Heritage, a nonprofit service and community development corporation, has acquired the Washington-Colfax Apartments and will invest $3.2 million into renovations. The overhaul will include roof replacement and repairs to the masonry, plumbing and electrical systems.
The property has been renamed Gemini. It will include studio and one-bedroom apartments that are expected to cost around $600 and $1,000 per month, respectively. The West Washington Tax Increment Financing District, the South Bend Regional Chamber says, will cover $1 million of the project.
