The city says the building aims to boost economic development by attracting businesses looking for more than "shovel-ready" sites.
The building will be constructed at Airport Business Center North, located near the Fort Wayne International Airport and other major employers such as Fort Wayne Metals and BAE Systems. The city says shell, or build-out ready, buildings "are becoming increasingly necessary to promote economic development."
Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will join representatives from the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Department, GH Land Co., The Hagerman Group and Greater Fort Wayne Inc. for the groundbreaking ceremony.
