Northern Indiana Anodize is investing $8 million in the facility and plans to add nearly 50 jobs by the end of 2021.
The 47,000-square-foot facility is located on Bluffton Road just off I-469 and is expected to be complete in March. Greater Fort Wayne Inc. says the company hopes to eventually grow to 150 employees.
"We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get the business off the ground, and starting construction makes us feel like the work is paying off," said Bruce Fogler, chief financial officer at NIA. "This building will allow us to provide top-quality service that’s in high demand in our region. We can’t wait to get started.”
NIA says the facility will house anodizing services that will be used for the automotive, construction, boating, and industrial markets throughout the Midwest. Anodizing involves dipping aluminum parts into multiple chemical baths in order to increase wear resistance and corrosion protection.
