Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Moves to New Space

The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission has consolidated its services from two separate buildings into one. Our partners at WPTA-TV report the mission moved its day shelter program from the now-vacant Superior Street building earlier this week, bringing all of its services under the same roof at a new location on East Washington Boulevard.
The nonprofit first began using the new building in July.
“Having two sites when it comes to serving our people just wasn’t as practical as we would like, and unfortunately as the weather changes, people were walking from one location to the other,” explained Reverend Donovan Coley of the Rescue Mission.
According to the station, the city of Fort Wayne is reportedly in the process of purchasing the Superior Street building.
Coley says he believes the city will temporarily use the space to provide services to the homeless, with a focus on women.
