The City of Fort Wayne has released preliminary details of a potential $150 million infrastructure project. The work involves construction of a massive underground sewer tunnel that could get underway in 2017. The preliminary plans call for a five-mile pipeline to move sewage to the city's waste-water treatment site.

A Fort Wayne City Utilities official says early estimates project the initiative could create 3,600 construction jobs.

Preliminary plans were presented yesterday at a Greater Fort Wayne Inc. meeting.

Bidding could begin in 2016 and construction on the tunnel could take years to complete.
