Fort Wayne International Airport said Wednesday it saw a record number of passengers traveling through the airport in 2024.
A total of 856,803 passengers flew in and out of the airport last year, a 7.6% increase over 2023. The airport also noted a total of 430,485 outbound passengers, which was also a record and an 8% increase over the previous year.
The record for overall passenger traffic beat the record set in 2023, which was only a 0.2% increase over the previous record in 2019.
“Ending 2024 in record-breaking fashion is something to celebrate, and we are thankful for the support of the Northeast Indiana region and our passengers,” Executive Director of Airports Scott Hinderman said in a news release. “It is exciting as the community’s airport to see people choosing to fly local and use FWA as our staff works hard to make the airport the best it can be.”
The airport said it ended 2024 with a 7.8% year-over-year increase in flights and a 7.4% increase in available seats.
In 2025, Fort Wayne International Airport is already seeing a boost in options for passengers.
United Airlines has extended its fourth daily flight to Chicago O’Hare International Airport through at least August 2025. That flight was added last August.
American Airlines plans to begin up-gauging the aircraft used in its non-stop to O’Hare beginning in April, while Delta Air Lines plans to begin a second daily nonstop flight to Detroit on June 8.
