Fort Wayne Airport Begins Work on New Terminal Road
Fort Wayne International Airport has begun the first phase of construction on a new terminal entrance road. The airport says the project will enhance traffic flow for passengers and allow for possible expansion of the terminal and parking.
The first phase is expected to take 60 days to complete. The airport says it will consist of the construction of a portion of the new road including the Cell Phone Lot and a portion of a new two-lane entrance into the Economy Lot. As a detour, passengers and airport visitors will need to use Ross Drive to enter both lots while construction is ongoing.
The second phase will begin upon completion of the first and is expected to last 30 days. It will consist of the demolition of a portion of the old 2nd Street, continued work on the new road and Economy Lot entrance, and the construction of portions of new entrances for the short term and long term parking areas.
The entire project will be completed over six phases. The airport says information on future phases will be released when available.
