Former Taylor President Adds Title

The former president of Taylor University has a new title. Eugene Habecker, who served as president of the university for more than 10 years, has been named president emeritus of Taylor.
Habecker was president from 2005 until May 31 of this year. He announced his retirement last year and was succeeded by Lowell Haines, who took office June 1.
"We are thrilled that our warm and longstanding relationship with Gene and (his wife) Marylou will continue in this new capacity," said Haines. "Gene has consistently demonstrated excellence, a commitment to students, and a Christ-centered worldview that has impacted every facet of his life and work."
During his tenure as president, Habecker oversaw the raising of $160 million for endowment and capital projects as well as the construction of numerous facilities on campus. Prior to joining Tayor, Habecker served as president of the American Bible Society and Huntington University.
