Former Superintendent Charged With Bribery

Our partners at WTHI-TV report Danny Tanoos, who currently serves as the director of safety and security for the district, will appear in court Wednesday morning.
Court documents show Tanoos faces three felony counts of bribery. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed the charges Monday in Indianapolis, though Tanoos has not been arrested, according to the station.
A probable cause affadavit alleges Tanoos received bribes in the form of dinners, concert tickets, and Indianapolis Colts tickets, in exchange for contracts awarded to Newburgh-based Energy Systems Group. The documents say Tanoos had a close relationship with Dough Tischbein, corporate director of business development with ESG.
Current VCSC Superintendent Robert Haworth released the following statement Monday:
Today, Vigo County School Corporation was informed that the Marion County Prosecutor has filed charges against Dr. Daniel Tanoos. Dr. Tanoos has been placed on administrative leave, pending a review of the charges by the Vigo County School Corporation Board of School Trustees. The Vigo County School Corporation has, and will continue, to cooperate fully with law enforcement.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, if convicted, according to WTHI. You can view the probable cause affadavit in full below:
