Former Lilly, Guidant Corp. Exec to Speak to Purdue Grads

Subscribe NowA well-known executive in Indiana’s life sciences sector will be the summer commencement speaker next week at Purdue University. Ronald Dollens is the former chief executive officer of Guidant Corp., a spin-out of Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY) that was acquired by Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE: BSX) in the mid-2000s for $27 billion.
Dollens, a Purdue graduate, was the former medical devices and diagnostics president of Lilly and is currently chairman of the board at Georgia-based Halyard Health and a director of the Regenstrief Foundation in Indianapolis. Other previous board positions include the Alliance for Aging Research, the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Butler University and United Way of Central Indiana.
Purdue says more than 1,300 students are eligible for degrees recognized at the August 4 ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in Elliott Hall of Music on the West Lafayette campus.
