Jim Staton and Tony Brown

A former senior vice president and chief business development officer at the Indiana Economic Development Corp. has accepted a new position with Indianapolis-based AES Indiana, a subsidiary of AES Corp. (NYSE: AES). Jim Staton, who also served as interim commerce secretary, will lead economic development for the utility. AES says Staton will focus on managing commercial and industrial customer opportunities.

The company also announced the hiring of Tony Brown as AES Utilities leader of commercial accounts for Indiana and Oho.

Brown previously held senior commercial roles for OneAmerica, Kinetrex Energy and Dow Chemical.
“Jim and Tony will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction as we continue to focus on finding new technologies and innovations to better serve our customers,” said Wendy Mehringer, Chief Customer Officer, AES US Utilities. “Their deep knowledge and expertise, dedication to customer care and solutions, and commitment to the people and communities they serve will be instrumental in earning the opportunity to grow with our customers.”

Staton joined the IEDC in 2005 and most recently oversaw the organization’s domestic and international business expansion and attraction efforts.
