Our partners at the Daily Journal report Thomas Minar appeared via Zoom before a circuit court judge in Door County for a status conference.
The publication says Minar faces 12 counts of possession of child pornography, using a computer to facilitate a sex crime and exposing a child to harmful narrations, stemming from an incident on January 6, 2020 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
The college fired Minar shortly after the arrest.
A trial date was not set Wednesday, but a trial would likely not occur before next year. The paper says Door County has not held a trial for more than a year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Because of the backlog of cases, Minar’s trial would not be heard until 2022.
According to the paper, if a jury finds Minar guilty of the crimes, he could receive a maximum sentence of more than 68 years in prison.
