Former Bedford Industrial Property Reopens as Senior Apartments
A signature piece of Bedford’s Stellar Communities program is now open. The more than $8 million Stonecutters Place Senior Apartments is in a building that dates back to 1920.
The site was previously home to the Carriage House Furniture business.
The project was a partnership with the Mitchell-based Hoosier Uplands Economic Development Corp. and the city. Other projects set to take shape this year include a moving the abandoned former Milwaukee Railroad Passenger Depot downtown from its current location. Indiana Landmarks says plans call for it to serve as a transportation hub and a trail head. Façade and streetscape improvements are also scheduled to begin in the coming months.
Bedford was the 2014 Indiana Chamber of Commerce Community of the Year.
