Ferguson announced his resignation from Ball State in January less than two years after taking the position. The university said the move was a mutual decision, but specific reasons for Ferguson leaving have not been disclosed.
Ferguson’s severance agreement, released shortly after his resignation, included a $450,000 severance payment that would be made over 12 months. However, the agreement stipulated that if Ferguson took a senior-level position in higher-education while the severance agreement is in effect, Ball State’s obligation would be reduced based on the compensation and benefits he would receive from the new institution.
Biola established the School of Science, Technology and Health last November. The school will be housed in the university’s Alton and Lydia Lim Center for Science, Technology and Health, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in the 2017-2018 academic year.
